IF YOU ARE A NURSE AND YOU FEEL OVERWHELMED, OVERWORKED, TIRED AND STRESSED OUT, YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT PLACE. I HAVE BEEN THERE.
IF YOU ARE A NURSE AND YOU FEEL OVERWHELMED, OVERWORKED, TIRED AND STRESSED OUT, YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT PLACE.
I HAVE BEEN THERE.
I have been a nurse for over 20 years and at my lowest point, things got so bad that I was having chest pains and huge anxiety just thinking about coming into work. I can remember the day I had finally had enough.
I can remember walking down the hall of the surgical building to clock in for my shift and feeling the tightness in my chest.
I was headed for a 12 hour shift with no breaks - If I wanted to have anything to eat I would have to scarf something down quickly between patients.
I had six patients that day, I was going to have to change dressings on wounds keep track of pain medications and I knew that I would barely have enough time to spend with any of them while I was getting called out and given orders from doctors.
It was going to be busy non-stop and at the end of the day I knew that I was going to feel like a failure.
I was doing the best I could, but it just felt like, I was a horrible nurse. Why couldn’t I keep up with all this stuff? Why did the administration put so much on us and not give us the support we needed? My mental and emotional health deteriorated as each day I left work feeling like I had done a terrible job despite having worked myself to the bone to take care of everyone and everything.

I had anxiety just thinking about work
12 hour shifts with very few breaks
Too much to keep track of, charts, meds, dressing wounds, getting orders from doctors ...
Non-stop busy shifts
I felt unsupported by the administration
I was left feeling like there was something wrong with me - like I wasn't good enough
I TURNED EVERYTHING AROUND. NOW I'M IN CONTROL.
I CAN HELP YOU DO IT TOO.
I TURNED EVERYTHING AROUND.
NOW I'M IN CONTROL.
I CAN HELP YOU DO IT TOO.

I felt huge amounts of guilt because no matter what I did I could not seem to feel good about my job. I felt guilty if I left things unfinished at the end of my shift so I would stay longer than the already awfully long 12 hours. I was exhausted.
It felt like all I ever did was work and sleep, work and sleep.
This cycle made me feel like a bad mom because I had no time for my kids, who needed me to be there for them.
It felt like no matter what I did, I could not win.
I had tried to switch jobs before, but it was always the same. Everywhere I worked was understaffed, and the same cycle would repeat itself. I would take on extra work and pretty soon I would be back to being overworked, overwhelmed and filled with guilt and anxiety.
As I walked down the hallway that day I remember saying to myself: “I can't do this anymore something has to change.”
I have to make a real change, not just find a different job, I have to change from the inside out.

I decided in that moment - clocking in to that horribly long shift -that I would overhaul my life. And this time the change was going to stick. I was going to do whatever I needed to do to never feel like that again.
I still wanted to help people, but I wanted to do it on my own terms.
I decided to learn and grow and now I use all the things I learned to help other people to get out of the place of feeling anxious overwhelmed and stuck the way I was when I clocked in that day
.
I learned a lot about myself and why I was having struggles moving forward.
I learned about the things that were stopping me.
I learned that I did things that weren't serving me, and I learned to change the way I thought about those things.
I found out about the ways I had lost belief in myself and how I had lost my self-love, and my self-worth.
Over time I learned how to love myself again.
In the past I always held myself accountable to jobs and employment, I decided it was time to hold myself accountable to myself, to be healthier and happier and to do things that I would love, things that would give me meaning and purpose.

Now, every part of my life has completely changed.
I am now strength training 3 days a week, doing cardio 3 days a week and these were things I hated to do before. And now I'm like:
"No, this is just what my body needs."
I hold myself accountable in all areas.
I set boundaries with work and I allow
time to build my business because I want to. I'm becoming a good role model for my kids and grandkids.
Everything I choose to do feels easier now.
I do things because I love myself and I'm worthy. And this is what I want to teach you to do as well.
Whether you decide to stay in nursing or you decide to transition into a new career, I can teach you the skills to be happy and fulfilled.
You can feel in control of your life right now!
And I will be there to guide you through it every step of the way.
I believe in you.
I can help you start to believe in yourself.
So much love . . .
